And just like our usual TWHMP format, we give you in-depth reviews of four films: “Berberian Sound Studio” (2013), “The Invisible Man” (1933), “Twins of Evil” (1971) and “Dear God No!” (2011). The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast Ep. 026: The End

TWHMP 026 ArtworkBRIEF EXPLANATION: This podcast is not the Horror Movie Podcast for which this site and feed are dedicated. Horror Movie Podcast is slated to release Episode 001 on October 25, 2013. You can read the full explanation and the background on the re-release of The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast (and of Horror Metropolis) at the bottom of the show notes for this episode.

SHOW NOTES:

Episode 026 is the bittersweet episode when The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast came to an unexpected end. Though the show had become the No. 1 audio podcast on the Horror Palace Network, it had also become too big and too unwieldy for the hosts’ schedules… So, after 26 episodes and 88 unforgettable horror movie reviews, The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast comes to an end.

But this sad news also brought the announcement of two new horror movie podcasts: Horror Metropolis: The Capital City of Horror Movie Podcasting — and — The Electric Chair, Midnight Corey’s new guest interview-based solo-cast project. Dr. Shock also announces that he’ll be joining Land of the Creeps as an official co-host.

And after these big announcements, Midnight Corey sends us off with some outtakes and bloopers from the episodes where he was at the helm. We hope you enjoy this bittersweet send-off and join us again next Friday for Episode 001 of Horror Metropolis!

SHOW NOTES:

For this truly excellent show, Episode 025, we bring you a Frankensteined amalgam of three EPIC reviews that we’ve recorded on different nights — weeks apart — with the plan in mind that we’d assemble these into this Monster show (much like you heard us do with Episodes 013 and 014).

You’ll hear reviews of “The Grapes of Death” (1978), “The Uninvited” (2009) — and last but not least — a knock-down, drag-out discussion of “Grave Encounters” (2011) and the Found Footage convention, with special guest host Evil Mike Maryman of the Evil Episodes podcast, which covers TV and Web-based horror.

The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast Ep. 024: Flesh Ripped Clean to the Bone

TWHMP 024 ArtworkBRIEF EXPLANATION: This podcast is not the Horror Movie Podcast for which this site and feed are dedicated. Horror Movie Podcast is slated to release Episode 001 on October 25, 2013. You can read the full explanation and the background on the re-release of The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast (and of Horror Metropolis) at the bottom of the show notes for this episode.

SHOW NOTES:

Here it is — the infamous Episode 024… This show is somewhat legendary among TWHMP fans: This is the episode that provokes an exasperated Midnight Corey to say things like, “Lord, take me home!” and “[This movie] was a huge hit at the Special Olympics.” Needless to say, we have some epic and passionate battles, starting right off the bat with a review of Dario Argento’s “Deep Red” (1975). This contentious review sets the tone for the rest of the episode, and it’s very entertaining, to say the least.

But at the top of the show, Midnight Corey begins by acknowledging the death of zombie novelist Z.A. Recht, author of The Morningstar trilogy, which includes Plague of the Dead: The Morningstar Strain, Thunder and Ashes and Survivors, which had to be finished by Thom Brannan. (Be sure to click the link below for Midnight Corey’s interview with Z.A. Recht.)

Next Midnight Corey sparks a conversation about our hosts’ opinions on 3-D and how it is affecting modern cinema and theater-going. (This episode is worth listening to for this discussion alone). And then we move into our four, hotly debated reviews. Continue reading

You can read the full explanation and the background on the re-release of The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast (and of Horror Metropolis) at the bottom of the show notes for this episode.

SHOW NOTES:

For Episode 022, Midnight Corey and the gang bring you two great guest interviews and two great horror movie reviews! But first Midnight Corey opens the show with a rant about spoilers on social media platforms, especially pertaining to Twitter and “The Walking Dead: Season 2.”

Our first guest on this show is actor and author Bradford Tatum, the man who says blood should always be photographed in black and white and the author of “The Monster’s Muse,” a book that features memories of golden-era Hollywood horror. In addition to describing some fascinating aspects from his book, Bradford also discusses the current state of horror. And for a review, Bradford chooses “The Lodger” from 1944.

Our second guest is artist and entrepreneur Ben Scrivens, the mastermind behind Fright Rags, Continue reading

SHOW NOTES:

Episode 021 is an uncharacteristically tame and civil episode, but your favorite horror hosts still have some great horror discussion. Perhaps the quieter show is a result of BillChete’s absence, but in his place, we welcome special guest Haddonfield Hatchet of the Land of the Creeps horror movie podcast.

Here is another great episode filled with a lot of entertaining battles. During Episode 020, Midnight Corey and the gang slightly revise their rating system, whereby each host can decide for himself the range that constitutes a Buy, Rent or Avoid. Also in this episode, Midnight Corey announces that the lucky winner of the live Michale Graves CD contest from Episode 017 is Greg Platt. Congratulations, Greg!

SHOW NOTES:

This episode is one for the ages … Episode 019 is one of the boldest, battle-ridden shows in The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast history. We’re also happy to feature special guest horror podcaster Katie ROTS of Rotten Rantings horror movie podcast. Also, in this laugh-out-loud, hilarious episode, Terror Tovey tries to teach a little political correctness … in vain. The crew also discusses the filmography of M. Night Shyamalan. You don’t want to miss this one!

SHOW NOTES:

Midnight Corey spices up The Weekly Horror Movie Podcast with some new theme music! And in this show, we’re also proud to bring you two very special guests: first, the owner and operator of Albino Jacks, Mr. Alex Mills, who helps us review Doc’s pick for Midnight Corey, “Storm Warning” (2007). Next we bring you an interview with horror actress Priscilla Iden, who helps us review Bava’s “Demons” (1985). During this show, Terror Tovey broadcasts from a Starbucks in St. George, Utah, while en route from Salt Lake City to California. Episode 018 is also the show where the guys slip into a fondly nostalgic recollection of the good ol’ days of brick-and-mortar video stores (this section begins at 01:30:55 into the episode), and though it’s brief, it’s one of the best conversations ever to take place during TWHMP.
