Movie Podcast Network BONUS 008: 2017 Meetup Event – Better Watch Out with Director Chris Peckover

MPN Better Watch Out

Christmas comes early from the 2017 Movie Podcast Network Meetup Event in the safe neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah! It was an incredible event and we wish you all could have joined us. The weekend included multiple meals with hosts and listeners, trivia games, live podcasting, live music, hiking, a birthday party, group screenings of Better Watch Out (2017)—with a Filmmaker Q&A—and Tremors (1990), plus a double feature of Friday the 13th (1980) and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1988) on the actual Friday the 13th of October 2017. Whew! Quite a weekend! You’re going to hear great live recordings from all these events in the days to come.

Here, HMP’s own Jay of the Dead, Dr. Shock and Wolfman Josh podcast with their MPN co-horts from Movie Podcast Weekly, Retro Movie Geek, Universal Monsters Cast and Movie Stream Cast in front of a live audience after a screening of Better Watch Out (2017). The panel is also joined by the film’s writer/director, Chris Peckover for a Q&A with the MPN listeners. If you’re jealous of all the fun we had at the 2017 MPN Meetup Event, you’d better watch out for the next one!

The Sci-Fi Podcast Ep. 38: Alien Abduction Part 2 – Communion (1989) and Fire in the Sky (1993)

TSFP Alien Abduction Pt 2

Have you ever wondered about the origins of the Alien Abduction sub-genre in Horror cinema? Episode 116 of HORROR MOVIE PODCAST was Part 1 in a crossover with our friends at The Sci-Fi Podcast. On that ep, the HMP hosts and special guest Mattroid, from TSFP, spent some time exploring the theme and reviewed Alien Abduction (2014) as well as Altered (2006). We capped off Part 1 with another excellent interview with filmmaker friend of the show Eduardo Sanchez.

Part 2 of that series is now here! In this episode, Dr. Shock (known as Dave Bowman on TSFP) and Wolfman Josh (known as SpaceWolf) join the crew of The Sci-Fi Podcast to review the creepy Communion (1989) and Fire in the Sky (1993). TSFP utilizes their resident scientist–The Brain–as a sounding board for hypotheses regarding the probability and plausibility of life OUT THERE and that life coming here. You also won’t want to miss Station!’s hilarious review of Communion or the great discussion about Fire in the Sky.

Head over there to listen and leave your comments!

Horror Movie Podcast Ep. 066: Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 3 (2000) — Scream Franchise Review Part 2 of 3

Scream 2 of 3

Welcome to the second installment of our SCREAM FRANCHISE REVIEW for HORROR MOVIE PODCAST, where we’re Dead Serious About Horror Movies.

Just as we did for the Halloween films back in October 2014 and the Friday the 13th films back in February of 2015, we’re giving you some hardcore Ghostface coverage with in-depth analysis of the entire Scream franchise, including all four movies and the new MTV series. In this episode, we welcome Mattroid and STATION from The Sci-Fi Podcast and bring you reviews for Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 3 (2000).

Horror Movie Podcast would also like to acknowledge the tragic passing of horror icon Wes Craven this past week. This episode was actually recorded before Wes lost his battle with brain cancer and we have decided to hold our memoriam for him until our final installment of this franchise review. Of course, we are all saddened by this event and give our best to his family and friends at this time. His death is a huge loss. Rest in peace, Wes. And thanks for the SCREAMS! Continue reading
